A couple weeks ago I wrote about the Iranian artist, Shirin Neshat.
Her debut feature film, Women Without Men, will be playing next week.
From the preview and if her previous body of work is any indication, I am
confident it will be visually stunning and emotionally striking. The trailer
honestly brought me to tears.

guapa penelopa.
one of the first things i wanted to do upon my arrival in espana,
was to see the new almodovar film, Los Abrazos Rotos.
i attended a late afternoon show with muchas abuelitas. i laughed out loud.
its always me and the old ladies, thats cool though, i dig their style.
penelope was great, as usual and she looks stunning in this picture.
but to be totally honest, i was un poco underwhelmed. its charms,
and there are many, lies in the similarity to his earlier films (say mid to late 80s)
and you must see Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (1988 or 89, i think)
to fully appreciate and understand Los Abrazos Rotos.
i don't want to reveal too much but when its stateside and worldwide, we will return to
this discussion. i plan to view it again with subtitles just in case i missed a few things.
nonetheless, viva pedro!
(ps, see Matador if you have not yet, its gonna blow your eyes open!)

mon dernier tango à paris
clips from paulo melim andersson's last collection for chloe, fall 2008.
i'm particularly fixated with the embellishments, details and wispy 70s feel.
although this being the collection that knocked him from his creative director post,
i love it and find it well aligned with the last tango in paris inspiration.
i'm attempting to try my hand at recreating some of these ideas.

all the lovely rhinestone costume jewelry in the film was brilliant.
my ebay finds include rhinestones and lead to amber and butterscotch amber.

your love is right in front of my eyes.
i'm amazed it took this long to occur to me i could be seeing through hearts.
considering my love and fascination with the human heart. and hearts of all sorts.
the search begins for the perfect pair and i see lanvin and karl jumping on this for spring oh nine.

xxy
i viewed this film a while back, but wanted to catch up on it at least.
an argentine film of a girl born with both sexes. the story compelling and the actress quite good-
i was most struck by the colours and setting of uruguay coastline. it had a salt covered look to
it- beach comber.
