angry dancing ladies

Photobucket

this is the perfect time to come to sevilla, semana feria.
two weeks after semana santa and easter, sevillianos get down for a week
with horses, open up the bull rings, drink and dance themselves silly and
pull out the festive get ups.
all the chicks had out of control trajes de flamenco on. in all colors and shapes.
(i think the polka dot prints are a must)
they were also tricked out with the fans, fringe shawls, huge earrings, espadrillas,
hair combs and flowers on top their heads.
my first hour in the city, i saw a cluster of mujers singing and dancing in the street.
they looked great and i totally regretted not bringing along my red polka dotted number.

holi is a festival of radiance in the universe!

different waves of radiance traverse the universe, thereby creating

swedish fox

Photobucket

in my search for a proper yet nicely coloured backpack, during a ride on the L train, I spotted
one of these babies, the kanken, sported effectively by a swede. produced by fjallraven
(forgive the lack of proper swedish accents) and made in a variety of colours and a
few different sizes, i think they are brilliant and i plan to pick up the maxi kanken for an
upcoming trip. i spotted a few in opening ceremony over the weekend and they are also
sold at a few outdoor outfitting outlets online in europe.
EDIT- i recommend purchasing your kanken at mountain fox
with the pound dollar exchange at the moment, its a deal and they have heaps of colours
opening ceremony is charging well over the recommended and
even creatures of comfort raised their prices

the rajasthan ride

Photobucket

maybe L and J have been filling my head with too many dreamy
monsoon landscapes, indian confections and shiny glass bangles, but
nothing beats the vision of our possible transportation.
one of these. rides eight.

give love and you shall receive pizza

Photobucket
its a complete pleasure when my composer pal, eric stops by the circus house

and this time being especially pleasurable as we ventured to the new and
nearby motorino. i throughly enjoyed our meal of grilled octopus with cilantro pesto
a huge coral like cheese chip (get this!) and pizza. i have tried the pugliese (nice hot bite)
but have been most satisfied being a purist with the margarita doc. and spreckers!
they carry this cream soda thats new to me called spreckers, its made with honey and
its unreal. this place is no una pizza napoletana but its a fraction of the price.
i have the feeling these spots are gonna start popping up everywhere and giving
una pizza a run for it.

friends of a feather

the other day, i met spiro. i was sure he was a french sailor, in his stripe shirt,

holding his parrot coloured drink. in from port, thinking of his only love, la mer.
he reminisced about marseille and told me that certain locale informed his
drink choice of the evening.
le perroquet (the parrot)
one ounce pastis
one splash of creme de menthe
four ounces of cool water
stir and serve, its a sin to add ice cubes, they would say in marseille.

red sand/black sand

Photobucket
Photobucket

as of late i'm feeling nostalgic for the time in these photos, in santorini, greece.
the ocean and its colours. more on this and the film xxy.

the knowing that the sea is behind the avenue with balconies and bicycles.

Photobucket

Barcelona, a city of perpetual yes-saying begs to be passionately consumed by its
passengers. My heightened attraction is to experience eating and drinking things that
really need to be eaten and drunk. Bottomless half filled sangria glasses, garlic and
olive oil drenched prawns and echoes of laughter of past meals embody the fresh spice of
Barcelona in a slice. In all its forms, spanish consumables make one feel fiery and alive
and brings the possibilities of endless days and nights.

a couple things have been pointing back to the left coast- a nostalgia for the
city of angels in its greatest creative era
its beginning influence as a place to make colours and waves-
modern art, surfers and sea, palm trees and silver screens and jazz
