when i dream it is the same as being awake
javier tellez, letter on the blind, for the use of those who see, 2007, production still
yesterday i went to see the whitney biennial- and found this video work to
be one of the only few worth noting.
tellezs' work was a recreation of the Indian parable, the Blind Men and the Elephant.
Kind of a documentary filmed at the abandoned McKarren pool in Williamsburg, where
six blind people of different walks were all allowed to touch ula, this elephant.
all of their reactions were drastically different and some being so thoughtful and spot on.
they made me laugh and cry.
'are you awake in the world?'
if only we could all touch so thoughtfully and lightly as if we were blind.
other notes:
book, james welling, flowers
'the second sentence of everything i read is you'
'leftover remnants of snow'
'give me your everything'
give me your end
conditions of light within us
'something being massive and losing that feeling as you observe it'
'imaginatively projecting'
door ways
marble - food terrains
ships
painted fabric
ballet slipper pink
elephants, of course.

weird emotion collision
in this entry, just simply recording some thoughts that passed through my head today.
-the countries in europe- (Tyrol for example- between Austria and Italy)
and where they are close to other another an almost entirely new country is formed -
new in the sense of customs, foods, languages and cultures- an overlap of cultures, people and ideas.
-todays film, water lilies, about the difficultly of being a fifteen year old girl -
and how the heart so easily breaks and how arduous its to be dealt with when the
feelings are so unfamiliar- and ones experiences are nearly visibly imprinted on their person
because of their actions and reactions to situations - and how times have changed so as to
when i was experiencing coming of age and what it must feel like today
-finally, a copy of zola's belly of paris has been placed in my hands
