i have long been a follower of Lizzie Fortunato Jewels
since they did a collaboration with VPL and i love their
fall 2009 line with filled with road trip visions and patterns
and colours of the southwest. i have dreamed about visiting
this part of the country since i saw the film Newsies (santa fe!)
when i was ten and upon hearing about the lightning field
installation when i attended pratt pre college.

wearing fresh and crying blood

Photobucket

it has never been my style to post photos of myself on le futur possible.
but, somehow i am avoiding looking at the camera in this particular picture.
nonetheless, i am really happy with my work on my halloween headdress
and i knew there would be some viewers out there who would appreciate it.
i spray painted some glow in the dark stars gold and strung them on to this
double headband fixture that i made. the lilies (the symbol of purity in
the aforementioned religious paintings) are fresh and i looped them into
the headband. (they smelled so beautiful all night long!)
i want to start wearing fresh flowers daily!
i made some necklaces by deconstructing some prayer bracelets and strung
them on to white chiffon. i made a little white leather vest and a dress with
pearl gray silk. somehow it all came together and i accomplished my nights
goal of drinking quite a bit and dancing in my flowing gown.

hot apple floor

Photobucket

well, i guess it is high time i admit what happened with the pie contest.
i gathered all my needs to make this baby and this is what came out
of the oven. i put oven mittens on to carry it out of my pals apartment.
K and i are walking down the stairs and he is says 'oh dude, i am afraid
i am going to drop mine' (he made a delicious pomegranate infused apple pie).
with his words still hanging in the air, i fall down the stairs.
with the pie.
my feet totally flew up in the air and with me, the pie.
it was completely inverted on floor of the entrance of the building,
with hot apples everywhere.
it was obscene.
me and apples flying up in the air.

i tried to patch it up and shove the apples back into the crust, but it was no use.
it was wrecked and i was too proud to bring a smashed pie to the contest.
i ate some of the crushed dessert and it was quite good and i was real sad.

we still went to the contest. K never dropped his.
it was horrible but kind of amazing and funny, as well.
we had a really good laugh about it all.

i will have to wait til next year to gather those highest honors.

i have been a long time fan of the Lake & Stars lingerie and was so pleasantly surprised to
see some of their new pieces at barneys. the first pair of knickers, the lace stripes are literally
floating on the silk and just slightly attached at the leg and waist. so lovely.

sea breeze dries

Photobucket

the graphicissmo from spring 2009 has remained but now its sliced, diced
and infused in and between with malibu hues in dreamy shades.
these colours are familiar to us but feel so soft and calm, as if we are
maybe only looking with one lazy eye up so they appear new and we are half asleep.
his print focus with the fusion of photographic parrots, leopard and flowers in
newsprint black and white looks fresh but not overwhelming. its understated and
that is the beauty of it. it has a cut and paste way about it and its nothing he has
done yet and something that will be replicated down the fashion chain.
yet again he simply evolves slowly and does what he does best, beautifully.
i think it boudior ladies at the beach in winter.

clips from paulo melim andersson's last collection for chloe, fall 2008.
i'm particularly fixated with the embellishments, details and wispy 70s feel.
although this being the collection that knocked him from his creative director post,
i love it and find it well aligned with the last tango in paris inspiration.
i'm attempting to try my hand at recreating some of these ideas.

autumn 2003 miu miu campaign
possibly all the ebaying i do has awarded me with the best bid yet. the search for the perfect winter
coat has been years long. i dreamt of finding this oversized houndstooth number at beacons closet.
(pictured on left, above) someone once said, all the things i love will come back to me, if i really love
them enough. case proven!

exquisite jam for nice poets

Photobucket

last august i became wildly nostalgic for my italian mum, emilias' fig jam
so i searched and researched and came up with my perfect fig jam for nice poets.

2 pounds of fresh juicy figs (i like black mission)
about 2 cups of water
1 pound superfine (caster) sugar
juice and zest of 1 lemon
large pinch of cinnamon

clean and boil ball jars
clean, trim and chop figs
boil water, add sugar, stir til dissolved
add figs, lemon and cinnamon and cook down, stirring quite often
i prefer to cook it down to about a quarter of its mass
fill jars, put lids on and boil again
enjoy with fancy butter and fresh bread
