melon bon bon dance steps

Photobucket
I have been thinking about these since I saw them over the weekend.
I have another pair of Dieppa Restrepo
elephant gray ones that are so
ripped up I only use them for dancing and that is a little nod to my favourite
dance floor friend. The melon colour is so bright and sweet, it'd be a nice pop
with the other summer fruit inspired gypsy colours I want to wear now.
(I'm searching for a mint coloured pair as well, give a tip if you spot them.)

I missed Holi celebrations by a couple of weeks. So, this stunning pair
is in honor of that. Welcome spring and colours converge in the universe!

It has been a couple seasons since I've had a true feeling and excitement
for Balenciaga. However, this collection truly marks a rekindling of my interest.
The colours reminded me of Japanese washi tape and the textiles of bubble
wrap. I love how the tops look like they are made of foam when cinched in
at the waist. It will be really a thrill to feel all of these materials when they are
in the shop.

true form

I do not recall how I happened upon these musicians, but now I am
totally obsessed with them and their wild, whirling performances.
The Jaipur Kawa Brass Band hails from Rajasthan and like all things
Indian on this blog, they are mind blowing and heart shatteringly brilliant,
spilling with colour and life. As if I needed another reason to run away to
my Indian gypsy life.

i was thrilled to see the fruits of this collaboration between unearthen
and alexandra cassaniti because i have a wild fascination with the indian
celebration, holi and in the glass of this pendant is just that...some pink
holi powder! this definitely addresses the space i have been looking to
fill with a new piece that is a bit off beat and the shock of pink provides
the perfect pop.

a painting to make you cry and feel still

Photobucket

i had been at the MOMA for more than two hours without realizing it today-
strange how when you are on an inspired trip, time is of no essence.
my last stop was the room dedicated to the return, well until april
of some of Monet's water lillies.
they stunned me into stillness on another countless occasion.
if you have yet to see these works in their basking light, please go.
they will break your heart. as they should.

t and i volunteered all day for the Armenia Fund USA, making nonstop
phone calls in hopes of donations for karabagh. (check it out, link above.)
so, after hours of this, we were mildly exhausted. we happened upon this
show at deitch projects and its colours forced new found energy right
through my veins!
splitting twilight, kristen baker
at first, i was mildly unimpressed, but after a few minutes of standing in the
stark white gallery room with these slices of radiant light and stunning colour
stories, i was totally seduced. you really must see this work in person,
it has so much depth and is produced in such a raw way, that you can almost
dissect it, the longer you observe it. i love it. and its so inspiring to see a young
and totally strong female painter.

fredricks and mae is a design and creative collective based
in brooklyn and they are doing some great work with all
natural materials like creating these feather hair pieces,
pins and arrows
i spotted some of their pieces at maryam nassir zadeh
over the winter when i was selling my valentines
i recovered the memory of their work the other day
when i found some old arrows in a garbage bin in williamsburg
